2025 - A Year of Change

2025 - A Year of Change

My last blog was at the turn of the year when I wrote about The Dried Flower Shop 10th birthday. Well a lot has happen in the last ten months.

At the beginning of the year my landlord of twelve years informed me they were selling up retiring to Scotland. I leased two shops from him, one a fresh flower shop and one for The Dried Flower Shop. After twelve years in retail premises, the thought of a new landlord, new lease, new rent agreement, and relocating while work was carried out on the premises filled me with dread! After careful consideration and discussions with staff I decided to create a new path. One of my staff members, who trained with me for 5 years, took the brave move and took over the fresh flower shop website. She could work from her home and look after her young family at the same time. She's doing great, I'm very proud! I, with help from family and friends, built myself a studio in the garden and relocated The Dried Flower Shop.

That was back in May.

All summer I have been beavering in there designing and making beautiful wedding flowers and gifts.

I even had a TWO week holiday!! Which I haven't had in the summer for over twelve years.

The quiet and solitude without the pressure of a shop and all the business admin has allowed me to enjoy creating again. I really have found a renewed passion for what I do.

Late summer and early autumn weddings have been a joy to make and hand deliver

I am finally getting time to spend on creating new designs for the web shop and put some time into the website that I created ten years ago. There will be a new section on the web shop of one off dried flower designs and I will be adding other craft items I have made for sale.

What a journey 2025 has been so far. Finally I have the work life balance I have been craving for years.

Thank you to all the couples who have been so patient through the move and to all my friends and family for their continued support.
